Debuting Enhanced Water
Gatorade, a division of Quaker Oats, Chicago, IL, has gone national with its Propel Fitness Water™. Propel began shipping in January and is expected to hit shelves at most grocery retailers, mass merchants, convenience stores and warehouse club stores throughout the U.S. by April. Featuring essential vitamins as well as antioxidants, Propel is a lightly flavored, non-carbonated, purified water with 10 calories per eight-ounce serving.
To rival Propel, White Plains, NY-based Snapple Beverage Group has introduced a new line of enhanced waters under the Snapple Elements name. The new waters will be available in 20-ounce bottles and will come in Lime, Berry, Orange and Lemon flavors. In keeping with the energy drink trend, the company has also added a new energy drink to its line of Mistic beverages. Mistic RE is packaged in 14-ounce resealable aluminum bottles and comes in Berry and Citrus flavors. Both beverages will roll out in April.
